Hints of Purim in Gucci's 2011 Collection

I stumbled upon these Gucci 2011 looks just in time for Purim! The colors remind me of Persia...and of a royal feast! Most of all, these looks are BOLD! Just like a Purim heroine we all know and love.

Most of all, I love how these looks aren't afraid to be a little on the costume-y side!

Okay, I'm trying hard to make the Purim connection here, aren't I? Whatever the case, enjoy these looks and add some COLOR, ROYALTY and BOLDNESS into your Purim and indeed the rest of the year!

Purim Polish! "Costume" Your Nails! :)

So with Purim right around the corner, I thought I'd lighten the mood here at LadyMama ;)

This post is for all the Ladies and Mamas out there who don't plan on wearing a costume but want to get into the loud, zany and oh-so-colorful spirit of Purim! What better way than to spend some time Purim-izing your nails?! Below are some inspirations—some for the royal Purimite... and some for the more, how shall I say, over the top drunk Purimite.  Some of these look easy while others would take some serious motivation to pull off. If you end up using your nails to express your Purim spirit, send your photo to Mimi@LadyMama.org!

FridayLight looking to crown woman with $1,000! Do you know her?

FridayLight (www.fridaylight.org) is a global campaign focused around Shabbat candle lighting, celebrating the power women have to illuminate their surroundings and bring world peace. In honor of the upcoming festival of Purim - which is highlighted by the heroine Queen Esther - the "For Women, By Women" organization has launched a contest looking for modern-day Jewish Heroines.

Women of the world are invited to nominate themselves or someone they know. Their merit need not be epic (they don't have to be eradicating world hunger or anything like that!); any women you find deserving is a fine nominee! The winner will get $1,000 to be used towards her heroine cause!

It's quite simple:
1. Think of a women you know that deserves some recognition (it may even be YOU!).
2. Send a bio/profile of any length as well as a picture to blog@fridaylight.org by midnight [12:00 am EPT] Wednesday March 16thMake sure to include what she would do with the $1,000 prize if she won!
3. Once your nominee is posted and open to voting/"likes," tell everyone you know about it and encourage them to "like" FridayLight on Facebook and vote on your nominee!
4. On March 27th, the nominee with the most votes will be crowned "FridayLight Purim Heroine" and win $1,000!
